+# Mutualaid and sex work
+
+COVID19 pandemic is dramatically affecting the lives of sex workers. Most of the #sexworkers are unable to access the social benefits set up as emergency measures by the governments. It is indeed a moment of despair and fear: many young sex workers women and trans people are migrants, alone and without a family network to refer to; many others are mothers and with their job they support the whole family.

+In these weeks and more and more in the nexts, the emergency is pushing many of them to the brink of the abyss, giving rise to increasingly serious situations of hardship and poverty. And it will always be worse. There are people engaged in prostitution activities in free, agreed or forced form, already in conditions of human and social vulnerability, and today they risk falling into conditions of extreme poverty. Conditions of necessity that could force them to work, violating the rules, exposing themselves to the related criminal consequences and risks to their own health and to the collective health.

+For these reasons, sex work groups, associations and unions in many countries are organizing. That is how, in addition to food and medicines distribution, various initiatives have opened mutual aid and donation funds to financially support the sex workers. Workers who are among the people on whom the pandemic is most affecting, due to the generalized criminalization of the sexual work.
